Sweet Dreamers challenge #5 (eyelets galore)

Posted just by the deadline (today)! At least I got it done. I found these fun eyelets Friday at the Scrapbook/Stamp show I went to. I'm not usually big on eyelets, but I love leaves. They are great, because they set with the tip of a pen, no hammer necessary. It actually worked with the pen, I was skeptical, but they set easily.

This is our fifth Sweet Dreamers blog challenge. They are a fun group of girls, with lots of talent. If you have a chance check out all their blogs (linked on my sidebar).

Have a good rest of the weekend!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: My Favorite Things
Ink: Memento Tux. Black
Paper: Choc. Chip, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, PTI New Leaf, ssw, plaid from my scraps
Embellishments: Eyelet Factory leaf eyelets, dimensionals, SU ribbon, border punch, copics, Quickcutz embossing folder

Delightful MoJo101

I loved the sketch once again from MoJo Monday blogspot this week. I've been having fun with square cards lately. Some of them are so big though, that I can't fill the inside, I'm a girl of few words, LOL. So I did a smaller one this week (it is 4.25 inches square). Fits in an A2 size envie, so no extra postage required either!

Happy Friday everyone! It is raining buckets here today. I wanted to go to a scrapbook/craft show today. Looks like they have some great shopping, but I want the rain to let up a bit first. I don't mind getting wet, but will feel bad if Finn gets soaked. So we'll see what happens. Have a fabulous weekend!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve Delightful and Delicious
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette Umber
Paper: SU Garden Green, Bashful Blue, Choc. Chip, PTI ssw, DCWV patterned paper
Embellishments: copics, nesties, dimensionals, crystal effects, sakura glitter pen, SU ribbon, Bellas baubles

Rubber Romance meets SCS sketch challenge

It's been so quiet here today that Finn actually took two naps. He never does that when his brothers are home! They are having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa. They've already been to McDonald's and ToysRUs. Can you say spoiled?! I'm glad they are having such a great time!

This cute image from Rubber Romance is one of their ATC sided images. I love the big images, too, but these ATC sized images are often perfect for sketches. And they are fast to color. Her name is April, isn't she pretty? She reminds me of my dear friend Melissa. She'll probably be the one to receive this card for her birthday.

The background paper reminds me of olives! In her martini, there is a green swarovski crystal olive. If you click on the photo you can see it! Her lipstick and green eye shadow are shimmery, thanks to copic spica pens. I used Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge SC243 for this card.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great Thursday!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Rubber Romance ATC sized April, and ribbon phrase stamp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: SU Night of Navy, Garden Green, So Saffron, PTI ssw, Patterned paper by Creating Keepsakes (from JoAnn's, years ago)
Embellishments: Fiskars border punch, copics, copic spica pens, dimensionals, Cuttlebug embossin folder, crystal effects, swarovski crystal, SU grosgrain ribbon

A Kreativ Blogger Award!

My stamping Wish Rak buddy nominated me for this Kreativ Blogger award. Thanks so much Kathi, you are so kind and sweet. You've got to go check out Kathi's great blog, she makes beautiful cards. I actually have an original from her that she sent me when Finn was born!

To accept this award I had to do a few things: First, I needed to thank the person who nominated me for this award and include a link to her blog, which I have done above. Then I needed to list seven things about me that people might find interesting and then nominate seven Kreativ Bloggers, posting links to the seven blogs that I nominate and then leave comments on all seven blogs letting them know I nominated them. So, here are the seven sort of interesting things about me:

1. I'm addicted to reality TV (American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef, Project Runway), you get the picture!

2. I love cooking, I have tons of cookbooks, like to try new recipes, and new foods.

3. I got a Blackberry last week, don't really know how to use it yet. But, one thing I quickly learned to do is play Suduko on it. It's so much fun!

4. I like to read in my spare time.

5. I don't like hot weather or summer. I'm a winter, snowy type girl.

6. I adore Jason Castro's music. Remember him? Last year's American Idol fourth place contestant! I always listen to him when I stamp and in the car.

7. I collect tea cups, both old and new. I need to find a way to display them.

Ok, now here are the 7 Kreativ Bloggers that I get my inspiration from (in no certain order) that I am nominating for this award:

I'm going to cheat a bit here and give this award to my Blogging Group, The Sweet Dreamers, and any of my followers that would like it. Thanks so much, you all inspire me!

Edwin as a Redhead

Here's my take on last Wednesday's Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge (SC242). This was a fun and simple sketch to use. They post a new sketch every Wednesday. I printed out today's and I'm hoping to get to it tonight.

My image was so big, I didn't have room to add a sentiment. I guess I could add something inside. I decided to make Edwin with red hair. He looks so darn cute as a red head, in my opinion.

I think I'll have a lot of stamping time in the next few days. My in-laws just took my older two boys for a few days. They were telling me all morning they were going "on vacation". I know they will be super spoiled with Fruit Loops, chocolate and Root Beer floats! They love to go to their grandparents house! I miss them already and they just left. I told them I loved them and Cal, said "I love you more, Mom". It was so sweet, he's never said that before. It's going to be a quiet few days around here.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Edwin from the Magnolia Jungle collection
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Night of Navy, Chocolate Chip, PTI ssw, DCWV Indian Summer foil and glitter pack
Embellishments: American Crafts brads, dimensionals, copics, Cuttlebug embossing folder

Verve twist with a color challenge

The Verve challenge (VLVAUG04) last week was a sketch with a twist of a color challenge. It was to use your favorite colors. Not sure that these are my absolute favorite colors, but they are some of them. I found this new paper by DCWV, it is their Indian Summer foil and glitter pack. I was so drawn to this particular pattern, I think I would have bought the pack for this pattern alone, but they are really all great! I was able to combine some of the newer SU in colors with it, so that was a bonus. They have such beautiful in colors this year. I'm really happy with this color combination.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. It really makes my day to see that counter going up! Thanks to all of you, too for leaving such nice comments. I'm enjoying this relatively new blogging experience so much!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve, Enjoy and Budding Blossoms

Verve Challenge with a twist of a tag

I don't use tags very often. I think I burned out on them when I was scrapbooking more often. I couldn't do a layout without a tag. LOL, I bought them in bulk at Staples. So I haven't used any in a while. Along comes this challenge, so I used a tag. I created one with a button and ribbon threaded through some Nestabilities circle die cuts.

I love these colors together, so girly and fun. This patterned paper has been in my stash for years. It came from QVC and is by Rob and Bob. I thought it went well with this stamp set. These are some of the newer Robin's Nest dew drops, they are metalic. Not sure how I like them yet, they are a bit large!

Hope you are having a great Monday!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve, Express Yourself
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate, Rob and Bob patterned paper Embellishments: Robin's Nest metalic dew drops, SU border punch, PTI button, SU organza ribbon, nesties

MoJo Friday Sketch

In honor of their 100th sketch, the MoJo Monday blogspot had a new card sketch posted every day this week. This is the Friday sketch. I had hoped to get to them all, but we had some major plumbing issues this week. It took about all the energy I had trying to keep the kids out of the basement and the plumbers way. We couldn't use the yard even, cause it was flooded and swampy! I got at least a few of the sketches done and will file the rest away to try later. At least the plumbing issues are resolved!

The MoJo Monday blogspot has fantastic sketches, I always print them out to hold onto for inspiration. I used this fun Verve set called Party Time. It was one of the sets I won from the Anni-Verve-sary blog hop. I love the fun balloons and the font is just the best!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a relaxing Sunday!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve, Party Time
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Night of Navy, Only Orange, Wild
Wasabi, SU Jersey Shore patterned paper
Embellishments:
Nesties, Sakura Glitter pen, MS Blueberry ribbon, slot punch, copics

MoJoMaria and Sweet Dreamers Blog Challenge #4

Monday was the 100th card sketch for the MoJo Monday blog. In celebration, they posted a fantastic sketch every day this week. I just loved this sketch from Tuesday and finally got a chance to play with it. I decided to incorporate the Sweet Dreamers blog challenge for this week also. It was to make a card with a word only stamp, no coloring images this week! Of course for that sort of a challenge I had to go with a Verve stamp, as I've said many times they have the best sentiments around! And this one is another fabulous one!

The flower centers (brads) are covered in black stickles, looks very elegant in person! This is the first time I broke into the package of Ocean Tides cardstock I bought a while back. I really love this color and think I'll be using it a whole lot more often.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve To Risk Plain Jane
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Ocean Tides
Paper: PTI ssw, Ocean Tides, Basic Black, Blush Blossom
Embellishments: SU top note die, nesties, MS border punch, PTI Ocean Tides Ribbon, prima flowers, black brads, stickles, sponges, SU slot punch and corner rounder punch, Cuttlebug embossing folder

Rubber Romance sketch #1 (RRSK1)

As promised here is my take on the first Rubber Romance sketch. Check out the sketch here and enter a submission to win a Rubber Romance stamp! The sketch was fun to work with, I love circles on my cards. I always need extra cards around the holidays for those who don't celebrate a specific holiday, so snowy cards are a good bet! I've been trying to get lots of holiday/winter cards made early this year to avoid the crunch. Not doing that well, but here is one to add to my stash!

We're having some major thunder and lightening here tonight. Hoping they get the Yankees game in, they are in Boston, so maybe the weather is better than here. The Yankees were on the west coast for the last six games. I just can't stay up for a 10 pm start. I think I'm getting old, LOL. In college we would just be going out at 10. Oh well, nothing I can do about it. Looking forward to some early baseball tonight.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Rubber Romance Sherri in the Snow, LAD sentiment
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Handsome Hunter
Paper: PTI ssw, Handsome Hunter, Brocade Blue, Patterned paper from DCWV holiday stack
Embellishments: Nesties, SU grosgrain ribbon, SU felt flurries, Jessie James buttons, dimensionals, copics, MM crystal brads, stickles

Sugar Bowl Challenge with Attitude

That is Little Miss Attitude. That is the name of this darling little Sugar Nellie Gorjuss Girl stamp. She just cracks me up. She is the female version of my Liam. The pose is just the cutest thing I've ever seen. Hope you enjoy her! This is from The Sugar Bowl sketch challenge 17. The challenge was to make flowers (not use premade ones). So I dug out my old SU flower punch and layered some colors with brads for the centers. Her shoes are covered in Crystal Effects, so they look like patent leather!

I just got Cal's Kindergarten assignment in the mail today. I cannot believe he is starting Kindergarten in a few short weeks. I'm freaking out a little. I still feel like he is my baby, even though he is mature, smart and fearless. He is totally looking forward to school, so that should make it a little easier. I'm just wondering where the last five years have gone?!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you are having a fabulous week.

Stamps: Sugar Nellie Little Miss Attitude
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Sweet Dreamers challenge #3 (Grids)

I made this one for the third challenge for the blog group I'm in. Check out all the other Sweet Dreamer's blogs (linked on my side bar). I had never used this Papertreyink set (Guidelines) or specialty paper. It comes with a pre-printed grid that fits the stamps. I went ahead and stamped up the whole sheet and then cut it to size. From a whole sheet I made a set of 8 note cards. I'm sending these off to a friend, hope he will like them!
Here you can see how I packaged up the whole set and envelopes. These plastic boxes are available from Papertreyink also. They really make a set of cards look professional when you are gifting them. I used these boxes last Christmas to make teacher gifts. Keeps the cards nice, too (no bent edges).

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: PTI Guidelines, Borders and Corners Circles, Monogram alphabet
Ink: PTI Enchanted Evening, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss
Paper: PTI ssw, guidelines grid paper, Enchanted Evening, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss
Embellishments: American Crafts brads, SU border punch, PTI Ripe Avocado ribbon, nesties, corner rounder, dimensionals

Shoe Shopping

I love this stamp from Rubber Romance. She looks so elegant shopping for shoes. Her dress and bag are all stickled up for some sparkle. The SU sentiment is perfect for her. I think this card is going to my Sister in Law for her birthday. She is a real shoe lover.

Thanks for dropping by today! Happy weekend! So glad my husband is off tomorrow, I get to sleep in a little. The kids won't leave him alone when he is home, so it works out to my advantage!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Vivian loves her Shoes by Rubber Romance, SU sentiment
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red
Paper: PTI ssw, Real Red, Basic Black, MME patterned
Embellishments: nesties, stickles, ribbon slot punch, SU border punch, copics, SU corner rounder punch, offray ribbon, foam dimensionals

An exciting Friday!

Today the first Rubber Romance design team was announced. I'm so excited to be a part of this first team. Robin designs the best stamps, they are so fresh and fun! I'm so looking forward to working with these stamps and the talented design team that they have put together. My term doesn't start until Sept. 15th. If you aren't familiar with these stamps, you can buy them here. Also check out the Rubber Romance blog. Hope to be back later with a Rubber Romance card to celebrate my good news!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Sweet on Tilda

This was the Wednesday sketch challenge on SCS, SC241. Well I said I would try to get to it yesterday, but as you can see it is Thursday night and I'm just posting it now! Oh well, that's how it goes.

This was a really fun and easy sketch to work with. I love Magnolia stamps, and wanted to use this cute Tilda with her popsicle. She is from their summer stamp kit, and I hate to say it, but this is the first time I've used her. I just preordered the fall kit, so I thought I'd better try to use all the summer ones at least once before my fall kit comes. I colored the popsicle to look like one of those chocolate covered vanilla ice cream pops, my mom used to love them. It is coated with crystal effects, so it looks really shiny.

Thanks for stopping by today. So glad tomorrow is Friday already!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Magnolia image and sentiment
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI ssw, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, SU patterned paper

A bit of orange

My oldest son's favorite color has been orange since he learned to talk at about a year. It was "ornage" then. I always thought it was a passing thing, but at 5 1/2 he still loves it. He has the cutest orange crocs, and lots of orange clothes. I was never an orange fan until his obsession. Now I love it, too.

I found this Basic Grey Ambrosia paper that I had been hoarding. When I saw the orange and gray print, I knew I had to use it right away. I picked out this image to go with the paper and colored her to coordinate. Love the simple elegance of this image. She makes me think of summer and farmer's markets. I feel like she just bought a bunch of fresh flowers and put them in her bag. So much fun to color, she's from Rubber Romance.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope to be back later with today's version of the sketch challenge on SCS, looks like a fun one. All depends on how long Finn naps for!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Rubber Romance image, PTI sentiment
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI ssw, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Grey Ambrosia patterned paper

Life is like a box of chocolates....

Even though I do not like the movie Forrest Gump, I do like that quote. My life is definitely like a box of chocolates, I never know what I'll get. The kids are always doing the craziest things, really keeps me on my toes!

I found the directions for this adorable mini pizza box on SCS and had to try it out. I actually holds quite a bit of chocolate, but could hold plenty of other small items as well. Would be perfect for a little jewelry gift or maybe some small note cards. It was quick and easy to make and fun to decorate. I'll definitely make more of these for little gifts when needed.

Not sure if I'll actually give this one away or keep it. I do love dark chocolate! Hope you have a fabulous day! Thanks for stopping by.

A little masculine MoJo

As you know, it's Monday, which means time for another MoJo Monday challenge! This week's is #99. I thought I could really use some more manly cards. I was doing pretty well with colors, patterns, textures, then I went and added the primas and dew drops. Whoops, not so manly anymore! I just don't do manly cards well. I still like it and can probably pass it off as sort of manly, LOL.

Can you read that sentiment? How fabulous is that? I know I'm like a broken record, but Verve really has the best sentiments. They all really speak to me! And this Friday is their new release, so head over to SCS and check out the fun contests and the release party on Friday. I've got a little secret, I've already got the stamps in my hot little hands. Last Saturday was the Anni-Verve-sary blog hop. My blog was randomly chosen and I won the entire release! It arrived today, let me tell you, there are some great sets being released. Don't miss it!

A little family note, Finn learned to clap yesterday. He is so darn cute, he loves to show off. The better the response gets, the more he hams it up. He clapped all through dinner yesterday and was so proud of himself as we all oohed and aahed. It never ceases to amaze me how much and how fast they learn at this age. It goes too fast for me!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve Beautiful You
Ink: Palette Noir
Paper: Choc. Chip, Kraft, Bashful Blue, SU retired patterned paper
Embellishments: SU grosgrain ribbon, SU circle punch, primas, dew drops, dimensionals, cuttlebug embossing folders

My New Menu Planner

Back to blogging after a few days off. We enjoyed our stay in Langhorne, PA and visit to Sesame Place. Even the littlest guy had a great time. The water features were a hit with all three boys. Thursday was overcast, so the park wasn't too crowded. No lines to deal with. If you live nearby, you've got to go there!

Now onto my project. We've been trying to cut back on takeout food. We feel better and eat a much healthier menu if I do the cooking. And I love to cook and try new recipes. But I find the only way I can get dinner on the table at a reasonable time is with planning. I go through my cookbooks (I've got quite the collection of them, probably a few hundred), make a menu and grocery list. Then I'm able to plan the week out. I don't do well with trying to improvise at 5 o'clock! We've been doing well the past few weeks with cooking at home, and I think the kids are eating a wider variety as well, so that is an added bonus. One problem I'm having is that I write my menu and which cookbooks I got the recipes from on little scraps of paper, then by Tuesday I can't find any of them. So I decided to make myself a notebook to get myself organized. Hope it helps, I love how it looks!

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope today is the start of a wonderful week for you!

Blessed By You

I made this card about a week ago for the VLVJUL05 challenge on SCS. As I've said a million times I love the Verve sketches they have each Friday. They always have a twist to them, this one was a twist of texture. I used my Cuttlebug to dry emboss some panels of this card. The green floral panel is embossed, can't really tell by the photo, but it looks cool in person. I love the paper, too. It is one of the newer Basic Grey collections, Lime Rickey. Doesn't it just scream summer? Don't know if I like the paper or name more. Have you ever had a lime rickey? It's a really delicious lime soda. I love anything lemon or lime.

This card is going to an online friend who always wishes people "Blessings". When I saw the sentiment in this set, I immediately thought of her. So it will be in the mail in a day or two. Hope she'll enjoy it!

If all goes well, this will be posted while I'm at Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA. Haven't been there since I was a child. Hoping the boys will enjoy it as much as I did. Looks like they have lots of fun water attractions that they didn't have when I was little. The kids are excited to go. Hope we have some sunshine while we are there.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a good one!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Verve, Just For You
Ink: Gable Green
Paper: PTI ssw and Lemon Tart, Gable Green, Lime Rickey patterned paper
Embellishments: Bellas Baubles, nesties, SU grosgrain ribbon, SU border punch, Cuttlebug paisley embossing folder

Sweet Dreamers Challenge #2 (Recycle)

I recycle paper, plastics, aluminum etc., but this one stumped me. How was I going to use something recycled on a card? Then I remembered the bag of ribbons I had saved from gifts and gift bags! See husband, my hoarding tendencies come in handy sometimes! I think this pink ribbon came on a package from my last birthday. In the spirit of recycling, I also decided to try to use only scraps. So no whole sheets of cardstock were cut into for this card, LOL. It sounds like one of those research statements "No animals were hurt..."

Can't really tell from my photo, but the little bear's head is on a dimensional, to help him standout a bit. The Stampingbella sentiment was perfect with this image. I think I'll use this one for a thank you card for someone who has been especially kind to me.

We are going to the NY Mets game today. It's an afternoon game and will be the first real baseball game the boys have gone to. They are looking more forward to the food than the game, I think! They keep talking about hot dogs and cotton candy. Supposed to get rain in the later afternoon, hope it holds out for a while so we can see some baseball!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie Gorjuss Girl, Stampingbella sentiment
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette Umber

Sugar Bowl Challenge #16

I loved this Sugar Bowl sketch! So many fun elements to incorporate. The little bear is popped up on foam to add a bit of dimension. Her boots are coated with Crystal Effects to look like leather boots! Every girl needs some leather boots, right?

Just realized I was supposed to do some doodling for this challenge. I guess I'll have to do a second card with some doodling on it. I don't want to try to add some to this card, cause I'm not too good at it and don't want to ruin this one.

You might recognize the polka dot paper from my last post. I just opened this pack of SU paper I've had for a while and I absolutely love the colors in it. You'll probably be seeing more of it soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day.

Happy Second Anni-VERVE-sary Verve!

Welcome to the first ever official Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop. Verve turns two today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you’ve just happened along, be sure to hop on over there to start from the beginning! And to make this party a real shindig, there’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verve’s entire August release! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!

If you check out my blog often, you'll know that I'm a Verve lover. I think they have the absolute best sentiment sets around. You'll find so many great stamps on their website, and on SCS they have a challenge every Friday. They've really inspired me to step out of the box with some of my cards. Thanks Verve and Happy Anni-VERVE-sary!

For my card I chose my first ever Verve set called Beautiful You. I bought it specifically because I love this sentiment, but quickly found that every sentiment in the set is very useful. Thanks for visiting my blog and enjoy the hop!

Thanks for stopping by! Now it’s time to hop on over to Dani's Blog for a little more Verve-y goodness.
