Tasty Flakes

Happy Saturday!  I've got some exciting news to share.  I applied for the Phindy's Friday challenge blog DT and was chosen. I'm super excited, if you've been here before you know how much I love these images, especially the sweet little kids. It is a real honor to be part of the team. Check out the sketch challenge going on there this week, it is a cool sketch.

I don't officially start until February, but wanted to make a Phindy's Place card this afternoon to celebrate. We are still having lots of snow here, and the other afternoon walking home from the bus stop, my oldest was trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue, so cute. It made me think of one of my favorite images Tasty Flakes.

The sketch if from Jen del Muro's SFYTT for January. Fun sketch to work with.  It's not easy to see in the photo, but her boots are crystal lacquered up for shine, just like real snow boots.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a good weekend!

Wool You Be Mine?

I just love a good pun, I'm so corny sometimes! As soon as I saw this Love Ewe image from Designed2Delight, I knew that I wanted to pair this sentiment with it.  I think I'll send this out to one of the special requests patients from Chemo Angels, I think it is a perfect card to bring a bit of cheer to someone.

If you aren't familiar with Chemo Angels check it out.  It's a great program for those who like to make cards, or if you're not a crafter, store bought cards work, too. You commit to sending a card each week to a patient undergoing chemo therapy.  Pretty easy commitment to handle, and I really think it brings a lot of happiness to the people on the receiving end.  So there is a little plug for the Chemo Angel program.  Last time I posted about it, my blogger friend Karli joined, so I thought I'd mention it again!

I used the sketch from Card Patterns #99, for the layout of this card.

We are having very cold temps here this weekend.  But no more snow predicted till Tuesday.  So it looks like back to school tomorrow.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Lilah's Valentine

I loved the Midnight Madness sketch this week (MMSC87), I've been thinking about what I wanted to put into that heart all week.  Then I remembered this image I bought at Phindy's Place, Chocomonster, around Christmas time.  When I purchased it I immediately thought of doing a Valentine card with it, because of the box of chocolates.

I love the way she is licking her pinky finger, reminds me so much of Lilah having her first cupcake ever on her birthday.  Not a crumb was left, lol, unless you count what was stuck in her hair.  The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenge blog (#38) is Valentine's cards or cards for a loved one.  So this will be Lilah's Valentine this year. I have a feeling she'll be reaching for the boys' sweet treats this year, too. I know I posted this pic before, but the way the pinky finger is in her mouth just like in the image, cracks me up!

I'm also entering it in the Tuesday Morning sketches challenge this week #77 (heavy metal).  The heart shaped brads are metal.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Hope you are staying warm and dry.  They are calling for more snow overnight and into tomorrow, so we may be snowed in again.

Sending My Love Kaela

I've got another Valentine to share today.  I love this new release from D2D, Sending My Love Kaela.  She is so sweet, and I think she could be easily used for Christmas, too.  She can be found in the Valentine section.

I used a sketch found on the Truly Scrumptious challenge blog.

We are off of school for ice today, just laying low and relaxing.  I was relieved to not have to try to get the kids to school.  I took a bad spill on the ice last week and am still recuperating!

This week at Delightful Inspiration the freebie, is this adorable Love Ya Cupcake. If you didn't play along last week, you can pick it up in the Designed2Delight digi store and play along this week.

I immediately fell for this one, I'm a big fan of conversation hearts!  Last year my dh and I were laughing that they have hearts that say "text me" now.  Too funny, how times have changed!

I used today's sketch from the Crafty Ho's challenge blog.  Such a fun sketch to work with, one I would definitely use again!

SSD Blast From the Past Blog Hop

Today is release day at Sassy Studio Designs.  We are having a little blog hop to celebrate.  Start over on the SSD blog and find directions for our contest there.  As you go to each blog you will need to collect the name of a song, then you need to figure out the artist who performed that song.  So my song for you is "At the Hop".

For my project I used GoGo Girl.  I was going to leave the boost white, like typical gogo boots, but I just couldn't resist coloring them red and glittering them up.  Wouldn't it be fun to have a pair of boots like this?

Come by the SSD blog this evening at 9pm EST, the link to the party blog will be open.  Hope to see you there (I'll be the one in the red sparkly boots, just kidding!).

Next hop on over to Amanda's blog and see what great things she's crafted with these new images!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you are having a great weekend.

A Sassy Thursday

How is it Thursday already?  I have two sneak peeks for the Sassy Studio Designs release on the 15th. The first one uses Sock Hop Sweetie.  This was made using the Friday Sketchers sketch #136.  It is also for the Dutch Dare challenge blog that SSD is sponsoring this week, the challenge is stitching, faux or real. Pretty easy challenge, I opted for the real stitching.

And next up is the new Hippie Chic.  This is for the Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge this week, #55.  We are having a New Year's challenge~Use it Up!  Use something you've been holding on to (hoarding) for at least a year, or maybe much longer, if you are anything like me, lol!  My hoarded item is the Me and My Big Ideas paper.  I bought a huge paper pad over a year ago, and have barely used it.

Hope you'll play along with these challenges for the chance to win some new Sassy Studio Designs images which will be released this Saturday!

Distressed Nana

This is such a sweet image from Phindy's Place, called Nana Pies. We've always called my grandmothers "Nana".  I'm so fortunate to still have both of them alive (one is 96 and the other one is 99). While neither of them baked pies too often, they both did bake, so this image evoked some fond memories.

The challenge at Phindy's Place Challenge Blog this week was #37, distressing. Yikes, that is stressful for me. I was a little stressed taking the blade to the edge of this gorgeous paper, but in the end, I do like the frayed edges.  I also really crumpled and mashed up the paper that I made the flowers with to give them a distressed look, too.

The sketch I used was from the Shabby Tea Room week #44, sketch this.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  We enjoyed a snow day today, had about 12 inches, but the roads are pretty clear, so I think it's back to school tomorrow.

Some Friday Princesses

Happy Friday!  I've got two cards I've created for little girl birthdays.  I think the SSD princesses, from the Fairytale collection make terrific girly cards.

This first one uses The Little Mermaid.  I used Carly's sketch for this, but made it into an A2 size rather than a square.  It was made for the Stamp Something challenge blog that SSD is sponsoring this week.  The challenge this time around is anything goes, so it's super easy.

This next one uses Cinderella Honey.   Sassy Studio is also sponsoring the Do You Stack Up challenge blog, the challenge was to use a button.  The star in the ribbon bow is a button.  If you get a chance, play along with these challenges or the one on the SSD blog for a chance to win some Sassy Studio Designs images.

Recipes:
Stamps:  Sassy Studio The Little Mermaid, Cinderella Honey, CHF and Gina K sentiments
Ink:  Printer, SU Brilliant Blue, PTI Plum Pudding
Coloring:  copics
Paper:  SU and PTU cardstock, Cosmo Cricket, and October Afternoon prints

Scoops of Love

One more quick post tonight.  I made a second card for the Phindy's Place challenge #36 (Give Thanks with Scraps). The thank you is the small silver charm on the bow, it says 'thank you' on it.  I'm mailing this off to a friend who sent me some fun crafting items in the mail today.  And the scraps are the Basic Grey Bittersweet papers.  I cut into it last week and am using all of the scraps up, it's so pretty I don't want to waste any of it!

This image is one of the recently released Phindy's images called Scoops of Love.  Now that is my kind of an ice cream cone!  Her shoes and hair accessories are stickled up and there is crystal effects on the ice cream.

I used the JUGS sketch #65 for the layout of this one.  It was a fun and easy sketch to use this week.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Reading to Sissy

Here is another Phindy's card for you.  I bought a bunch of images and keep printing them off to color.  This may be my favorite image yet, it is called Reading to Sissy, and the reason I love it so much is that they look exactly like Liam and Lilah.  Last night while I was working on this, my dh looked over at it and said, wow, they look just like our kids!  Too funny!

So I decided to make a thank you card to send to my grandmother for the generous Christmas gift she sent.  I think she'll love it!  I made it for the Phindy's Place challenge #36 (Give Thanks with scraps).  The scraps are from my box of Christmas paper scrap pieces.  The sketch I used was the MoJo Monday sketch #172.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Hope you are having a great week!

Our snow has started to melt here, but they are calling for more on Friday and Saturday, yikes!  We'll have to wait and see.

Birthday Cards

With four little ones, I'm always in need of kids birthday cards.  Here are two that I put together over the weekend.  Both use Designed2Delight digis from the birthday section of the store.  There is something to suit every age in that section.

My first one uses Princess Wishes, a set with a few images and sentiments.  She is colored with copics and blinged up with stickles.  Papers are SU, PTI and MME Quite Contrary.

And this one uses Beary Big Gift.  I think this is the cutest image to layer.  I popped him up on dimensionals, so he looks like he is peeking over the package.  The image is colored with copics and accented with stickles.  Papers are SU, PTI and DCWV,

Thanks for dropping by today.  Back to our routine with school again, it's good to be back on a schedule.  Have a wonderful week.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I was the only one awake in my house last night past midnight, lol.  Oh well, I think that is what happens when you get older.

I have an anniversary coming up in a month, and it is a biggie, so I was looking for some images to play with for that.  I found this Rubber Romance stamp called You Shouldn't Have in my collection and decided to ink it up. I love this sweet image.  Not sure if this will be the card or not for my hubby, but it was fun to make.

Hope your 2011 is starting off with a bang!
